The award-winning, automotive test system supplier has seen continued, rapid growth prompting the creation of a new, tailored engineering facility
Bradford-on-Avon, UK, 15th November 2017… The advanced automotive test system supplier, AB Dynamics, has recently opened its new global headquarters in Bradford-on-Avon, Wiltshire. The purpose-built, £9 million state-of-the-art facility was officially opened by HRH Prince Richard, Duke of Gloucester.
The rising Chinese automotive industry is a contributing factor in the recent growth of its overseas sales, with over 95% of its products exported to foreign markets. As a result, the company now employs more than 120 people worldwide, with recruitment continuing to increase.
“The company is experiencing incredible growth,” explains Tim Rogers, Chief Executive Officer, AB Dynamics. “We have doubled our floor space and invested in additional land around the new 39,000 square foot site, with the intention of further expansion in the future. There is a global demand for high-quality automotive test equipment, this is reflected in our continued success.”
The innovative work of AB Dynamics was more formally recognised at the recent UK Tech Awards. On behalf of the company, Rob Hart (CFO) collected the award for Tech Achievement of the Year, amongst a substantial number of exceptional candidates.
The company began providing noise, vibration and suspension engineering services to the automotive industry in 1982. For 35 years AB Dynamics has been at the forefront of vehicle and chassis development, supplying systems to a significant majority of the world’s largest manufacturers. The company designs and manufactures a range of products from driving robots, through to large static rigs and one of the world’s most advanced driving simulators, the aVDS. The company’s portfolio aims to provide vehicle development engineers with the best tools available.
“There is a very good chance that the car you drive was developed using our products,” continues Rogers. “We are a trusted name in the industry and are always striving to help make safer vehicles. We have an innate understanding of our customer’s needs, having grown from an automotive testing business, clients recognise this in the products we develop. They also appreciate our support network that provides excellent service to our geographically diverse client base, a reason manufacturers have trusted our products for decades.”

About AB Dynamics
AB Dynamics has supplied innovative, high quality test equipment to the global automotive industry for over 30 years. The 25 most successful vehicle manufacturers worldwide all use AB Dynamics’ driving robots, along with NHTSA and Euro NCAP to develop testing standards.
The company supplied the first steering robot for quantitative vehicle testing on the track in 1998, and has now supplied over 750 driving robot systems around the world, making it the number one supplier in this field.
AB Dynamics was an early pioneer of the use of an inertial GPS motion pack to control the path of a vehicle in 2001, and in 2007 was one of the first manufacturers to sell a system for testing vehicles on the track without a driver onboard – this is the award-winning Driverless Test System.
At its facility in the UK, it designs and manufactures specialised systems for:
Suspension, chassis and steering system development
Testing of vehicle dynamics on the track
Development of the next generation of advanced safety system in the vehicles
Evaluation of driverless car technology
Noise, Vibration & Harshness (NVH) testing of power train assemblies
Vehicle driving simulation
Kinematics and compliance testing
